Biography

iLan was born in and grew up outside of Cleveland, Ohio. At 18 he moved to Pittsburgh, PA to attend school at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Industrial Design, specializing in Special Effects. After earning his A.S. in Industrial Design, he moved to Columbus, OH to attend school at Ohio State University. It was there he fell into the glass department.

While studying under Richard Harned, iLan worked to improve both technically and artistically. He focused on both traditional venetian vessels and began to implement the use of metal in his sculptures.

After earning his BFA in glass from Ohio State, he moved to Washington to work at Pilchuck Glass School. He currently lives in Seattle, WA working for local artists.
